Dutch rights to The Bear
I spent much of the past year thinking about the Netherlands as I interviewed Sam Garrett, who translated Herman Koch's The Dinner, and wrote about the rise of John Williams' Stoner. While there isn't really a connection, it means that I am pleased to have sold the rights for The Bear to Melissa van der Wagt at Cargo/De Bezige Bij:
Dutch rights to THE LINE PAINTER author Claire Cameron’s THE BEAR, about two small children lost in the bush after their parents are killed by a bear, to Melissa van der Wagt at Cargo/ De Bezige Bij, by Marianne Schönbach on behalf of Denise Bukowski at The Bukowski Agency. Rights previously sold to Little, Brown (US), Harvill Secker (UK), and Doubleday (Canada).
Did you know that bear translates to 'beer' in Dutch? I see this as a good sign.
